BARRY WILSON ANOUNCES MAYORAL CANDIDACY, BRINGING SIX YEARS OF PROVEN TOWN BOARD LEADERSHIP TO WINDSOR

Mayor Pro Tem Barry Wilson is proud to officially announce his candidacy for Mayor of the Town of Windsor, with the upcoming election on April 2nd. Wilson, who has served on the Town Board for the past six years, brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the mayoral race. The petition to put Wilson on the ballot was signed by 2 former Mayors, 6 current and former Town Board members, and a former State Representative. Wilson said, “I am very proud to have their support as they understand the importance of the position, depth of knowledge needed, and the commitment necessary to successfully lead Windsor into the future.”

Barry Wilson’s commitment to the community has been a cornerstone of his service. As a 24-year Windsor resident, he understands Windsor’s unique needs. This has allowed him to champion initiatives that enhance Windsor, maintain Windsor’s small-town feel, and foster a sense of community pride.

Public safety remains a top priority for Wilson, who has a proven track record of supporting the Police Department. He is committed to ensuring the well-being of Windsor residents and protecting their personal property. Windsor has been recognized as one of the safest cities in Colorado and the country. Wilson’s goal is to make Windsor an even safer place to raise a family.

Infrastructure improvement has been a key area of emphasis for Wilson during his tenure. Windsor has experienced explosive growth over the last 25 years. New home construction slowed by 70% in 2023 and Wilson sees this as an opportunity to catch-up on infrastructure improvements, especially roads. He is actively advocating for projects that improve connectivity and address traffic congestion.

Wilson’s dedication to parks, trails, and open space is second to none and underscores his commitment to enhancing the quality of life for Windsor’s residents. His efforts have focused on creating and preserving recreational and natural areas, improving our parks, and connecting all neighborhoods with trails. As the Executive Director of the Poudre River Trail Corridor, Wilson is passionate about making Windsor a walkable and bikeable community. His goal is to make all trail crossings across streets as safe as possible.

As the Chair of the Behavioral Health Policy Council in Larimer County, Wilson has been an advocate for initiatives that prioritize mental well-being, such as co-responders who work with the police to get people the mental health or substance abuse help that they need to recover. He recognizes the significance of mental health in the community and aims to create a supportive environment for all residents.

Barry Wilson is committed to economic growth and attracting new businesses and services to Windsor that benefit the residents and boost Windsor’s economy. He is equally committed to retaining existing businesses. Under Wilson’s leadership, Windsor will be a business-friendly town cultivating an environment that encourages entrepreneurship, job creation, and sustained economic growth.

As Mayor Pro Tem and a dedicated Town Board member, Barry Wilson has consistently demonstrated effective leadership, marked by a deep understanding of Windsor’s unique needs. He has a proven track record of being available, a good listener, and responsive to constituents. As Wilson steps into the Mayoral race, residents can trust that Wilson will put Windsor residents first and will not be beholden to any developer, industry, or political party. He will focus on the community, public safety, infrastructure improvement, parks, trails, open space, behavioral health, and economic growth.
