I am responding to the letters being distributed by Martin Lind. Mr. Lind has been a prominent figure in the Windsor community for many years. He has done many good things. I am currently in his crosshairs. In an effort to get Jason Hallett elected, his strategy is to discredit my good name, my reputation, and even my career. He thinks that people will be so scared of me that they will vote for my opponent. Windsor residents are too smart to fall for these tactics.
My family and friends read his messages. They know it is not true, but it is disheartening because they know some people will believe it. My daughter in college asked, “what did we do to deserve this?!” Mr. Lind has chosen a disingenuous strategy to get Jason Hallett elected. Do not fall for it. I have not been slandering my opponent, Mr. Lind, or his businesses. His letters are politically motivated. I am not a victim and I do not think Mr. Lind is a victim. Unfortunately it is politics and everything should settle down after April 2nd.
My family has lived here for 24 years. Lei Ann and I have raised 3 children in Windsor. I have served on the Town Board for 6-years and have been Mayor Pro Tem for the last two. I have served as a community leader on many boards, commissions, and committees over the years. We love Windsor. No one should believe that I turned into a dirty rotten scoundrel in the last week because one person said it was so. I have served with Jason Hallett for the last 2 years and he knows the statements in the letter are not true. I challenge Jason to do the honorable thing and denounce these messages from Mr. Lind.
Finally, Here are the Martin Lind letters (unedited). Please read them and make an informed decision when you cast your vote for who will lead Windsor over the next 4 years. Thank you!
Unedited Letter written by Martin Lind to the Senior Golf League:
Hey Boys!
It won’t be long, and I’ll be dodging you all every Tuesday morning while you’re heading to play, and I’m headed to the ol’ Water Valley rock pile! I can’t wait for spring!
Every 4 years I ask for your help to vote for a mayor to guide Windsor, and no different than before we have a stark contrast in candidates.
I’m imploring you to join me in voting for Jason Hallett as Mayor. Jason is currently serving as a town board member and a young father raising twins in Water Valley.
Jason is a Purple Heart recipient and his sacrifice for our families is unparalleled, however, he wants no credit or sympathy for his sacrifice. He just has a servant’s heart and will make a great and humble mayor.
Normally, I refrain from disclosing knowledge about an opposing candidate, but this year is an odd one. Jason’s opponent for mayor is Barry Wilson.
Wilson is originally from Iowa and makes no reservations about slandering anyone who may threaten his quest to be mayor. This gross political tactic is seldom used in Windsor, but Mr. Wilson knows how to campaign, and Campaign 101 is to create a “villain,” then slander your opponent with innuendo and falsifications to the “villain.”
Barry Wilson’s self-proclaimed “villain” is yours truly. He names me personally on his websites and in his social media posts. He froths up his internet trolls to shed hate on myself, my family, and my business in an effort to hurt his opponent, Jason Hallet.
Details of this pathetic behavior are his innuendo that his opponent Jason Hallett is “in Martin Lind’s pocket,” which are his words. He slanders my Colorado Eagle’s hockey team for recognizing veterans on our “hometown hero” because we honored his opponent, Jason. (Just like we’ve honored hundreds of other veteran heroes). Who is this guy?!
We are gathering many more examples of this deplorable behavior from Mr. Wilson and his keyboard trolls but for now let’s keep Windsor kind and respectful, and a great place to do business and send a loud message by voting in Jason Hallatt for Mayor.
Lastly, it’s no secret I’m proud of my efforts this last decade to keep golf as affordable as possible for this great senior golf league. It’s also no secret Barry openly professes his goals on his website as mayor is to raise fees.
In promoting his justification for new higher fees, Barry scares and angers people by disrespecting and slandering the way Windsor has grown and “His” vision for Windsor is much better. Think about that?! We’re the best planned, fastest appreciating, safest city in Colorado and all Barry can say is that our last decades of collaboration with Windsor’s staff and planning commissions is just not good enough for “Barry’s vision.” Who is this guy?
Let’s please send a resounding “NO THANK YOU” to Mr. Wilson and his shameful and unethical political tactics that have never been seen in our beautiful community.
PLEASE VOTE JASON HALLETT MAYOR.
Thank you!
Martin Lind
I removed the letter written by Mr. Lind to my employer. I value my job and do not want his letter to reflect poorly on our organization. I want to note that Mr. Lind also copied local leaders: Mayors, Town Managers, and County Commissioners. There was no reason to drag my job into the election. In my opinion, it crossed the line. I have a family to support and kids in college.
Due to this letter, I had to meet the the Chair and Vice-Chair of my Board of Directors (my employers). I removed the comments that concerned Mr. Lind from my website and social media. I called Mr. Lind and offered my apology via voicemail and said I hoped we could work together if I am elected. It resulted in a series of angry text messages from Mr. Lind. I removed the text messages from this website. If possible, I would rather work with Mr. Lind over the next 4 years. I am not against development.
Yet another letter from Mr. Lind:
