The current mayoral election is going to be consequential in regards as to what Windsor will finally evolve into. We are at that point. Being a Windsor native, I have lived 78 of my 80 years as a Windsor resident. Growing up in a truly small-town America of 1500 population I experienced and saw how Windsor grew to our current 40,000 plus.

Over my 80-year tenancy here I have known many good hard-working citizens who served the community on town board, school board, fire board, and so forth with the many usual attributes as honesty, loyalty, and commitment in a non-partisan manner. With all these qualities, experience matters ultimately in a mayor’s portfolio. Prior to my being Mayor, I had served on the Windsor Housing Authority, 12 1/2 years on Weld RE4 Board of Education (2 1/2 years as president), one year on the Windsor Town board and numerous other local governing boards. This experience prepared me to serve as Windsor’s Mayor. I believe Barry Wilson is highly experienced, prepared and capable to serve every one of Windsor’s citizens. Barry Wilson is without question your best vote for Windsor Mayor!

I must admit I have never met Jason Hallett but from what I have seen and experienced he does not have extensive governance experience at this time. With more experience, he may be capable of serving as mayor, but not now.

I have one major concern in this current race for Mayor – that being the large infusion of money. Once a candidate accepts large political contributions, they are generally beholden to the contributor. I would suggest that voters look at the candidates reported campaign contributions before voting.

Most importantly, exercise your constitutional right to vote. I whole heartily encourage you to vote for Barry Wilson, an excellent choice for Mayor of Windsor.

Ed Starck, Former Mayor – Town of Windsor
